Who We Are
The El Moro Democratic Club has been an active voice for Democratic values on California’s Central Coast since 1958, when members first rallied behind Edmund “Pat” Brown in his historic campaign to become the state’s first Democratic governor in two decades.
Today, we continue that proud tradition by working year-round to support Democratic candidates, causes, and community engagement. We are a chartered member of the San Luis Obispo County Democratic Party—and the oldest club of its kind in the county. In recognition of our impact, we’ve been honored as the SLO County Democratic Club of the Year.
In 2019, we united with the Los Osos Grassroots Dems to form one stronger, more inclusive organization. Our membership spans the north coast of San Luis Obispo County, with roots in Los Osos and Morro Bay.
We meet monthly—typically on Zoom, occasionally in person—at 6:30 PM on the third Tuesday of each month, except in July and December. Meetings feature guest speakers including elected officials, policy experts, and passionate advocates on timely topics. The conversations are always thoughtful—and often inspiring.
We’d love to see you at a meeting! Your voice, ideas, and energy are always welcome.

What We Do
We’re an Activist Club—And You’re Invited!
The El Moro Democratic Club is more than just a monthly meeting—we’re a hands-on, action-oriented group of volunteers working to advance Democratic values locally and nationally.
In addition to hearing from great speakers, our members roll up their sleeves for real grassroots work. We’ve written thousands of letters and postcards, made countless phone calls, walked precincts, tabled at farmers markets and community events, and served as poll watchers on election day.
Over the years, we’ve proudly supported candidates like Leon Panetta, Walter and Lois Capps, Salud Carbajal, and numerous local leaders running for the SLO County Board of Supervisors, school boards, and more. We’ve even reached beyond California to help win key elections across the country.
Grassroots activism makes a difference—just ask Supervisor Bruce Gibson, who won a hotly contested, gerrymandered race by just 13 votes. Our members helped make that victory possible.
Today, we’re continuing the fight by joining forces with other groups to organize protest rallies and civic actions that stand up for democracy.
Get involved. Meet like-minded Democrats. Use your voice. Make an impact.
